The Effect of Spa Massage on Subjective Satisfaction and Improvement in Quality of Life for Clients of Skin Care Salons

Abstract

|
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate efficient operating measures for the effect of spa massages on subjective satisfaction and improvement in quality of life for clients of the skin care salon industry.
Methods: A literature review was performed and a questionnaire was designed to assess spa massage experiences, subjective satisfaction, and improvement in quality of life. Participants were selected using random sampling in Seoul and Cheju, South Korea. Of the 320 questionnaires administered in June 2019, data from 273 respondents were used in the final analyses. Factor analyses and multiple regression analyses were conducted to examine relationships between variables.
Results: With regard to the correlation between the experience of a spa massage and subjective satisfaction and improvement in quality of life, clients answered that the massage experiences were pleasant and helpful in cultivating positive emotion and satisfaction from life.
Conclusion: It is necessary to further develop the spa program to create an effective plan to increase the popularity of spa massages in South Korea.
